Spoilers: Somewhat for the live-action film Thor, but only in the respect that, as a prequel, it sets up some things that happen in the film. It's also moderately inspired by the animated film Thor: Tales of Asgard, though it fits more into the live-action film's canon — or can be taken as its own continuity.

After Rodney McKay has something of a meltdown in the middle of the night (he's got a parasyte in his brain that's making him lose his memories and degrading his intelligence), his best friend John Sheppard brings Rodney out to the pier for a beer. Rodney wants to say his goodbyes while he still has his faculties, but John refuses -- he simply won't accept the possibility of losing Rodney. I was going to give this to David Hewlett (Rodney) at Dragon*Con, but there was a last-minute scheduling conflict that year. I fear I may never get to meet him now. :/

This really gave me a hard time, especially getting it started, as the references were fuzzier than I would have liked, especially the one I started out with. Still, I'm pretty pleased with it. For the moment, anyway -- I'll probably hate it tomorrow! XD See the WIP progression here: [link]

Both this and the one of John are incredible and together they make wonderful companion pieces. Your work reminds me so vividly of that scene. Great work.

Oooooh so beautiful, both of these. Such an amazingly touching scene, such an amazingly awesome episode, and such beautiful, gorgeous work here! I know David'll be beside himself! Have a great time :D

I appreciate the feature, but to be honest, there is no green at all in this painting; the lights are yellow ... Maybe it looks that way on some screens, or dA's background is making it look green by comparison? ^^;

Interesting! The background looks like there is some green - probably yellow, but showing more as green on my screen!!! In any case - it should be featured - it's wonderful work!!!

Thanks, hon!! (For the fave, too!) :glomp: I'm glad to get more confirmation that I'm improving, especially since I this is only the third painting I've done in a *year*, and I felt like it gave me such trouble at the start! I really need to get working more ....
