A scene from the 29th chapter of my Harry Potter fanfic, Without Wand or Wire [link]
Harry has taken to self-harm as a way to combat Voldemort via the connection they have in Harry's Curse Scar. Shortly before this scene, he had attempted to kill Voldemort by stabbing himself; Snape and Pomfrey managed to heal his wound partially before he pushed them off with wandless magic. The magic of an enchanted wireless prevents them from moving, as if forces Harry to confess his pain by way of lyrics from Corey Taylor's "Bother" and Evanescence's "Tourniquet". As he sings, he's enveloped in a dark cloud, a tangible manifestation of his despair. The green light within it, however, is a manifestation of Harry's will to live and fight. Even so, it takes the love of his friends -- particularly Ginny -- to heal his scarred mind and body.
This image was a lot bloodier at one point, but it disturbed even me, so I toned it down. I'm not pleased with his arms and hands, and he's not quite as anguished-looking as I intended, but once I put the clouds in and the close-up of Harry's face, I became a lot happier with the composition. Anyway, I was on a mega bi-polar down-swing yesterday, which I guess was a big enough incentive for Art!Muse to end her little ... vacation and finally get the image for this chapter done. (I was in such a state at one point that I needed an emergency cup of chocolate pudding!) Well, I'm glad something halfway-decent came out of it.
