Acrylic on 16 x 20 canvas paper. Dr Gaius Baltar (played by James Callis), of Battlestar Galactica (the new one). I'll be having Callis sign a copy of this and be giving him the painting itself when I meet him at MegaCon.

I chose one promo photo and then took a bunch of screencaps of my faves scenes from my fave ep, "He that Believeth in Me" (4.1). The upper right is from when Baltar is asking the Cylon God (whom Head!Six is trying to convince Baltar is the true god) why a wretch like him should be allowed to live when a little boy he knows is dying, saying that God should take him, Baltar, instead. The bottom right is from a little later, when Baltar's just been shaving in the communal bathroom and the father of another little boy, who was killed under Baltar's presidency (thanks to Baltar's alliance with the Cylons), comes seeking retribution. As the man holds a knife to Baltar's throat, Head!Six asks Baltar if he meant what he'd said earlier about wanting to trade his life. Eyes wide with understanding, Baltar tells the man "Yes, kill me! Do it!" over and over, begging. The would-be killer pauses in confusion, giving one of Baltar's followers a chance to save him. When Baltar returns to the place he's been living with his followers, he discovers that the boy is well. While the reality of the Cylon God (and its intentions) is questionable (especially when Head!Six looks like a devil), this is an undeniably profound series of moments in the life of a man who has been a bit cowardly and selfish until now, hence the ep being my favorite. And James Callis was phenomenal in that ep, hence my choosing those scenes in particular. (I couldn't narrow down what image I wanted to use -- had trouble getting it down to just these three as it is *cough*)

*EDIT Feb 28th, 2009* So I go up to James, explaining that I want him to sign the copy and that in the tube I'm handing him is the original painting, for him to keep. He looks at me in surprise, then asks if I'm "the one" he "was told to expect"!! And of course I'm all "Say wut?" XD  He elaborates, saying that he was told someone was bringing a painting for him to sign, and then he asks me my name. I tell him, and he says, all excitedly, yes, he thinks that's it, then looks at the picture and says that he's pretty sure that it's the one he saw online. "You put this online, right?" :wow: :faint: What a shock! So fess up; who told him? And more importantly, how the heck did you get ahold of him to tell him?? XD

He asked me how I made it/what it was made out of, ect, and I took the original out of the tube, saying it was acrylic, letting him get a closer look. He covered his mouth in awe (*squee!*), then said he wasn't worthy. (Awwww!) I told him he was the reason I watch the show. When he want to sign the copy, he had trouble, as there wasn't a lot of room. I said he could just put "To Wolfie" at the top and "From James" at the bottom, and he was all "Oh, but I want to write a message!" So there was a strip of white at the bottom (where the printer couldn't reach), and he wrote "U R seriously talented! I love it! Thank you so much. Love James", and then signed his full name (and Gaius Baltar) on the picture itself. And then I got a hug. *SQUEE!* He said he couldn't wait to get it home and framed -- and I told him to take a picture of that. *G*
